Tulsa, OK - The rumors running rampant about a new restaurant coming to downtown Bartlesville have been confirmed.
Brett Murphy and Darren Lister, Bartlesville natives and co-owners of Hideaway-2, Inc., have signed a lease on nearly 5900 square feet in the Johnstone-Sare building at the corner of SW Frank Phillips Blvd and Johnstone Avenue.
“With both of us being from Bartlesville, we’ve been wanting to build a store here for a long time. We were just waiting to find the right location that fits our specific needs," Lister said. “When we saw the old May Brothers building become available, we knew it was the perfect place for the Hideaway.”
The new location will feature a full bar with big screen tvs, as well as tables and booth seating. It will seat approximately 168 and will add 60-80 new jobs to the Bartlesville market. Formerly the home of May Brothers clothing, an Oklahoma retail institution, the restaurant will sit directly across the street from Conoco-Phillips Petroleum’s Bartlesville headquarters.
“We anticipate having a great lunch business from the downtown lunch crowd and hope the rest of Bartlesville and surrounding areas will find that downtown is a great place to come for dinner as well, “ Lister added.
Murphy and Lister will be very busy in 2014, with the opening of both this location and another previously announced new store in Owasso off Hwy. 169 in front of the Sam’s Club. That location will open in late Spring 2014.
Members of the first graduating class of Bartlesville High School, the two best friends and Bruins’ alumni have been slowly expanding the number of restaurants in the Hideaway Pizza chain outside of the original location in Stillwater. They currently own and operate 12 Hideaway Pizza locations throughout Oklahoma.
The first Hideaway Pizza was established in 1957 in Stillwater next to the OSU Campus and is still under it's original ownership.
