Frank and Lola's recipe for success
By Lacy Longacre
You take your dad there for a Johnny burger, you take your grandma there for a bowl of bisque, and you take your buddies there for a cold brew.
Tucked inside this corner building with the neon red sign, the people of Bartlesville have found their indispensable go-to joint. Already a hot spot for entertainment and good food, Frank and Lola’s had made some exciting additions to their outstanding menu, as well as a few must-see shows hitting the Bartlesville music scene at 200 S.E. Second St.
One of the “limited-time only” menu items is making its anticipated return. If you’ve missed the homemade meatloaf, now is your chance to eat it up - literally.
“There are a few staple items that don’t leave the menu, like our bread pudding and green chili,” reassures Adam Gilbert, owner, operator and chef. “But every so often we like to add some variety to change things up.”
Don’t panic. More than likely your favorite dish is safe, and you may even acquire some new favorites. Among the additions are a Greek Salad, a melt sandwich with an F&L’s spin, and the employee-favorite Pico Burger, created by inventive Daytime Kitchen Manager, Cameron Clark.
Continuous weekend specials are often dreamt up by Nighttime Kitchen Manager Jared Hicks, and are just as often nothing shy of amazing. It’s tough to beat Curry Beef Bowls, Hawaiian Snapper, and Butternut Squash Bisque.
“We feel like our staff is our family,” expresses Katy Gilbert, owner, operator, Bartlesville native and wife of Adam. “It’s really amazing how long our employees have been with us. We have a lot of fun together and they are a huge part of our operation.”
Come see what the staff has in store this summer. As an OK Mozart 2013 Festival sponsor, Frank & Lola’s will proudly be hosting musical events throughout the week.
Kicking off with the OKM Block Party, Wink Burcham, Pilgrim, and the Paul Benjaman Band will take stage on Saturday, June 8 outdoors at the corner of Second Street and Dewey Avenue. Samantha Crain and Parker Milsap pair up for a house concert on Sunday, June 9 where free beer and wine is included with admission, along with tasty F&L’s appetizers. Thursday, June 13 brings the final performance of the Chris Combs Elaborative Collaborative Series. Wrapping up the week on Friday, June 15, you won’t want to miss the performance by sister-group, SHEL.
