Not Ready to Say Goodbye (Green Country Edition) Art Exhibit
July 29-September 3, 2022 | 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Renowned Tulsa-based multi-disciplinary artist Kalup Linzy will have his long-awaited debut solo exhibition in Oklahoma with the opening of Not Ready to Say Goodbye (Green Country Edition), a survey of his recent collages, Polaroids, and videos at Price Tower Art Center. The exhibition is curated by New York-based curator Dan Cameron as the second in a two-part series of exhibition he is bringing to Bartlesville’s landmark 19-story Frank Lloyd Wright skyscraper.
Kalup Linzy’s work typically considers identity from the perspective of fictional characters that the artist creates as a means of framing complex social and cultural interactions through a familiar narrative that incorporates some combination of love, betrayal, desire, gender, race, ambition and loss. In the artist’s own description, the artworks on view at Price Tower Arts Center “will explore trauma, discord, and melodrama within self, romantic relationships, family dynamics, race relations, and COVID 19 (to name a few).” Linzy is particularly esteemed for his ease at working within multiple media, in this case painting, photography, video art, audio recordings in vinyl, and live musical performance. The majority of the work in Not Ready to Say Goodbye (Green Country Edition) will be presented in public for the first time.
