Carrie Days at the Little House on the Prairie: It’s that time of year again to celebrate the birth of Carrie Ingalls Swanzey. Carrie was born in the cabin on August 3rd, 1870. One hundred fifty-six years later, we are still talking about the impact the Ingalls had on not just Kansas, but the Midwest as a whole. Exact details are still being finalized but this page will be updated as we confirm. This event is free and open to the public. Timeline of events: Saturday, August 1st 11:00 am - 4:00 pm Sidney Robyn Greenbush, One of the actresses who portrayed Carrie in the original series will be visiting us along with her new book “Seven Sisters: The Lantern of Humanity”; Jennifer and Michelle Anne Steffin, The women who portrayed you Rose Wilder Lane; Olan Paz, Creative director for “Little House on the Prairie” will also be joining us; Charlotte Randall Yerke, Dialog couch and script advisor to the original TV series; Laura Ingalls Gunn, Laura will be bringing some of her costumes for display and will be selling some of her official Little House patterns; R. Lee Ingalls, Lee is the president of the Society of the Ingalls Family which is a non-profit organization dedicated to the legacy of the Ingalls family. The society is also committed to archival work and restoration projects associated with the family and historical sites. He is also a treasured Ingalls family historian and published author; Michelle Underwood, Michelle is a returning guest and will be bringing her new book “Loving Laura”; Tracy Megli, Playwright and pastor, Tracy will be exhibiting select scenes from his upcoming play “When the Prairie Stopped Singing”; Kay Little - school marm, Kay will be set up in our school house offering a taste of how a classroom was run in the mid-late 1800s; Mary Meckley – dolls, Mary specializes in making rag dolls; Hot Dog Feed Local Lions Club from Independence, KS, will be providing hot dogs from 11-3, so bring your appetites! The Little House on the Prairie Museum is located at 2507 County Road 3000, Independence, KS. Not far off Highway 75
