“Oil Painting: Translating what’s in front of you into your own unique vision” with Anne Spoon
Weekly on Monday
6 - 8 p.m.
Sep 6, 2021 through Oct 25, 2021
Many painters don’t paint what they see, but what they expect to see, what they remember, or what they imagine things are supposed to look like. Since “the mind stands in the way of the eye,” the purpose of this class is to teach you to see as an artist.
The fundamental lessons are for beginners and advanced artists. Through careful study and putting the right spot of color in the right place, you will create a realistic image of form, space, surface texture, atmosphere, light, and shade.
As you follow the painting projects you’ll make the dramatic discovery that everything in nature is filled with luminous color. You’ll learn to see glowing color in the “blackest” shadow and the “whitest” china. You’ll learn when a blue can appear orange; how to use paint to replicate metal, glass, wood, paper, porcelain, and other opaque, transparent, or textured surfaces.
A supply list will be sent via email prior to the start of class.Cost is $240 per student.
